The process

From granulate to finished part.

Tap a step or scroll through the cycle — this is how a bucket is made at BandAlpin.

01 / 06

KÜHLKREISLAUF VISION
  1. Granulate

Certified plastic granulate is dried and fed into the machine.

  2. Plasticising

The screw melts the granulate into a homogeneous mass.

  3. Injection

The melt is injected into the mould under high pressure.

  4. Cooling

The cooling circuit inside the mould brings the part to its final shape — dimensional accuracy and cycle time both depend on it.

  5. Demoulding

The mould opens and the finished part is removed — cycle after cycle.

  6. Inspection

Vision checks the parts optically in the line; Trace documents every batch.

Quality

Systems we built ourselves.

Our quality assurance runs on software developed in-house: Trace handles tools, batches and complaints, Vision inspects the parts in the line. Built for our machines, our tools, our products — no third-party system.

VISION · INLINE

Optical inline inspection

Vision inspects our parts right on the running production line — AI-assisted, developed in-house. We are extending the inspection article by article; the goal is every part that leaves the plant.

TRACE · TRACEABILITY

Full traceability

Trace handles tools, batches and complaints in one system — in daily use, from raw-material intake to the delivered lot.

ISO 9001

Certified quality management

ISO 9001 certified — we process exclusively certified materials and raw materials.

PPWR · EU 2025/40

Compliance, built in.

The EU Packaging Regulation is reshaping the market. We are systematically preparing products and documentation — from substance testing to the declaration of conformity.

days until application · 12 Aug 2026

ART. 5 FROM 08/2026

Substance requirements

Limits for heavy metals and PFAS in food contact — evidence along the supply chain.

ART. 6 FROM 2030

Recyclability

Design for recycling by grades — our PP mono-material approach is the foundation.

ART. 7 FROM 2030

Recycled content

Minimum recycled-content quotas — 10 % from 2030 for contact-sensitive packaging. The path is being prepared now.

ART. 10 FROM 08/2026

Packaging minimisation

Weight and volume limited to what is necessary — without compromising function or hygiene.

ART. 12 FROM 08/2026

Labelling

Producer identification and batch traceability — already daily practice here thanks to Trace.

ANH. VIII FROM 08/2026

Declaration of conformity

EU declaration of conformity and technical documentation for every packaging format.

Energy & CO₂

Cooling with groundwater instead of electricity

Instead of running the cooling on electric chillers alone, we use water from our own deep well. Every kilowatt-hour saved this way cuts our CO₂ emissions directly — environmental protection you can verify on the electricity bill.

Design principle

Mono-material design

PP mono-material packaging following RecyClass Design-for-Recycling — with no interfering foreign materials in the label. The handle is plastic too, not metal: the bucket stays single-material and needs no dismantling before recycling.

Ongoing project

Reusable instead of single-use cardboard in shipping

Around 6,000 pallets leave us each year in single-use cardboard boxes. We are working out whether foldable reusable containers can replace them — returning on the same lorry, starting as a pilot on one fixed route. Nothing is decided yet.

Ongoing project

NextCycle IML

Together with MCC Verstraete we are working on removable IML labels with RecyClass approval (2021-PP-010). Already approved on coloured PP containers — still in development for white and natural ones.

From the life of a bucket

By the way: the bucket.

3700 BC

The oldest known wooden bucket, found in Reute, is around 5,700 years old. The Romans later contributed the handle.

Into the 1800s

"A bucket" was long more than a container: well into the 19th century it served as a common unit of volume.

1722

An electoral fire ordinance required every household to keep a filled water bucket — and every newly-wed couple to add a new bucket for the town.

Family business

In its second generation.

Founded in 1985 by Heinrich Schötzer and led today by Philipp Schötzer: BandAlpin produces in Sand in Taufers — small enough for short paths, big enough for international series. Our principle: quality and price in balance.
