PPWR

What the EU packaging regulation asks of a package.

Regulation EU 2025/40 has applied since 12 August 2026. It reorders the packaging market — in materials, in design and in what has to be documented. Here are the six requirements that matter for our packaging from South Tyrol, when they take effect and what we have prepared.

The six requirements

Material requirements from 08/2026

Limits for heavy metals and PFAS in food contact. The evidence does not rest on the finished product alone but runs along the supply chain — we collect it from the material suppliers and file it with the batch.

Recyclability from 2030

Design for Recycling, assessed in grades. Our PP mono-material approach is the basis for it: one material, no foreign bodies, and a plastic handle rather than a metal one.

Recycled content from 2030

Minimum recycled quotas, 10 per cent for contact-sensitive applications from 2030. The route to meeting them is being prepared.

Packaging minimisation from 08/2026

Weight and volume limited to what is necessary — without giving up function, stackability or hygiene. On a bucket that comes down to wall thickness, and wall thickness is not a free variable.

Labelling from 08/2026

Producer identification and batch traceability. For us this is not a change but daily practice: every batch is traceable back to the material and the machine through our Trace system.

Declaration of conformity from 08/2026

EU declaration of conformity and technical documentation per packaging format. Ask for it for your article — it is kept per format, not in general.

What this means for an enquiry

Tell us whether the packaging goes into food contact and in which market it will be placed. That determines which evidence we supply with it.

Orientation, not legal advice. Status of the regulation: EU 2025/40. The regulation text in its applicable version prevails.
